Known for its raw performance, aggressive styling, and affordability, the MT-07 is often considered the perfect balance of fun and practicality. For 2026, Yamaha has redesigned the MT-07 with sharper looks, more tech features, and better performance upgrades. Yamaha MT-07 2026 Engine and Power Delivery

At its core, the 2026 Yamaha MT-07 comes with the same legendary 689cc CP2 parallel-twin engine. It produces around 75 hp at 9,000 rpm and 68 Nm torque at 6,500 rpm. Yamaha has fine-tuned this engine for better throttle response and smoother mid-range torque. The CP2 motor is extremely reliable and delivers exciting performance for both city commutes and spirited highway rides. The 6-speed gearbox with assist & slipper clutch makes downshifts smoother and reduces wheel lock-up.

Design and Styling Updates

The MT-07 2026 looks meaner and sharper than ever before. Yamaha has given it a futuristic LED projector headlamp with aggressive DRLs. The muscular fuel tank, sharp side panels, and minimalist tail section give it a pure naked streetfighter appeal. The new graphics and paint schemes highlight its bold personality. With wider handlebars and an upright seating position, the MT-07 feels both sporty and comfortable for everyday use.

Chassis and Build Quality

Built on a lightweight diamond frame, the MT-07 offers a perfect mix of agility and stability. Yamaha has worked on improving frame stiffness for 2026, giving riders more confidence while cornering. The kerb weight remains around 184 kg, making it one of the lightest in its class. This lightweight construction ensures better handling in traffic and more fun on twisty roads. Its compact dimensions also make it easy for riders of all heights to handle.

Suspension Setup

For 2026, Yamaha has upgraded the MT-07’s suspension to improve comfort and control. At the front, it features 41mm USD forks with adjustable preload and rebound damping. At the rear, there’s a monoshock with preload adjustability. This suspension setup absorbs bumps efficiently, while still giving sharp feedback during aggressive riding. Whether on city streets, highways, or winding roads, the MT-07 feels balanced and predictable.

Brakes and Safety Features

The braking duties are handled by dual 298mm discs with 4-piston calipers at the front and a single 245mm disc at the rear. Dual-channel ABS is standard for rider safety. Yamaha has also introduced cornering ABS in the 2026 model, which prevents wheel lock-ups even while braking in leaned positions. With improved braking feel and stronger bite, the MT-07 gives riders more confidence in every riding condition.

Electronics and Rider Aids

Unlike older MT-07 models, the 2026 version comes packed with modern electronics. It now features ride-by-wire throttle, multiple riding modes, and switchable traction control. A new 5-inch TFT color display replaces the old LCD screen, offering smartphone connectivity via Yamaha’s app. Riders can now access calls, messages, and navigation on the screen. Features like slipper clutch, quickshifter (optional), and LED lighting complete its modern package.

Rider Comfort and Ergonomics

The Yamaha MT-07 2026 is designed to be a comfortable naked bike for everyday use. Its upright seating position reduces wrist strain compared to supersport bikes. The seat height is around 805mm, making it suitable for a wide range of riders. With wider handlebars and improved seat padding, it ensures comfort on long rides as well. Yamaha has also worked on reducing vibrations, giving riders a smoother riding experience.

Fuel Efficiency and Practicality

Despite being a performance-oriented bike, the MT-07 2026 is surprisingly fuel efficient. It delivers around 22-24 km/l under mixed riding conditions, which makes it practical for daily commuting as well as long-distance touring. With a 14-liter fuel tank, riders can cover over 300 km on a single tank, making it ideal for highway rides. This combination of performance and practicality makes the MT-07 one of the best bikes in its class.

Price and Rivals in India

The Yamaha MT-07 2026 is expected to launch in India at a price of around ₹7.8 – 8.2 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the Kawasaki Z650, Honda CB650R, and Triumph Trident 660. Among these, the MT-07 offers the best mix of affordability, performance, and Yamaha reliability. While the Triumph Trident feels more premium, the MT-07 is lighter, cheaper, and more fun for daily use.
