Bajaj Auto is a brand every Indian family knows. From the days of the Bajaj Chetak scooter to today’s Pulsar bikes, Bajaj has always been part of daily life. Now, the company is preparing a brand-new 125cc commuter bike, aimed directly at students, office goers, and middle-class families who want style with mileage. The 125cc category is one of the biggest selling segments in India, and Bajaj wants to give tough competition to bikes like Honda Shine, Hero Glamour, and TVS Raider. This new bike will be pocket-friendly, fuel-efficient, and reliable for long-term usage.
Design and Styling
The design of Bajaj’s new 125cc commuter is expected to balance simplicity with modern looks. Unlike the old commuter bikes that looked too plain, Bajaj knows Indian youth want style even in budget bikes. The bike will likely carry sharp tank extensions, a modern headlamp setup (possibly LED), and a digital-analog console. The seating position will be upright, comfortable for both rider and pillion, which is very important for family riders. The side panels and rear grab rails will be practical yet stylish, ensuring the bike does not feel “too basic” when parked next to sportier models.
Engine and Performance
Bajaj is expected to use a 124.4cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine for this commuter, tuned for mileage and smooth performance. The bike will generate around 11–12 bhp of power and 11 Nm of torque, which is perfect for city riding. The gearbox will likely be a 5-speed manual, giving riders a balance between efficiency and performance. Bajaj engines are known for being durable and low-maintenance, and this bike should follow the same path. The fuel efficiency is expected to be around 60–65 kmpl, which is a key selling point in the commuter segment.
Comfort and Features
Comfort plays a big role in commuter bikes. Bajaj’s 125cc commuter will come with a well-cushioned long seat that supports both short rides and long highway runs. The suspension setup is likely to include telescopic forks at the front and dual spring-loaded shocks at the rear, tuned for Indian road conditions. Features like a semi-digital instrument cluster, side-stand indicator, USB charging port, and maybe even Bluetooth connectivity could be added to attract young buyers. Bajaj understands that even budget bikes today need smart features to stay ahead of the competition.
Price and Competition
The expected price of Bajaj’s new 125cc commuter will be around ₹80,000–90,000 (ex-showroom). This puts it in direct competition with Honda Shine 125, Hero Glamour Xtec, TVS Raider 125, and Bajaj Pulsar 125 itself. To succeed, Bajaj will try to offer slightly more features at the same price point. This strategy has worked for them in the past with Pulsar and Platina series. If Bajaj adds aggressive styling and smart features while maintaining mileage, this bike could easily become one of the best-selling 125cc bikes in India in 2025.
