Hero MotoCorp surprised the Indian market by launching the Hero Mavrick 440, its first premium roadster motorcycle. Built on the same platform as Harley-Davidson X440, the bike is designed to give Indian riders a mix of style, power, and comfort at an affordable price. The Mavrick 440 is not just another commuter—it is a big step for Hero to enter the lifestyle biking segment. With its modern-retro design and strong engine, this bike directly competes with Royal Enfield Classic 350, Jawa 42, and Honda H’ness CB350.

Engine & Performance

The Hero Mavrick 440 is powered by a 440cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that produces around 27 bhp and 36 Nm torque. The engine is tuned to provide smooth and linear power delivery, perfect for both city rides and highway cruising. With a 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch, gear shifts are effortless and comfortable even in traffic. The bike performs best in the mid-range RPM, which is very useful for overtaking and highway speeds. Top speed is expected to be around 140–145 km/h, making it capable for long-distance touring.

Design & Styling

Hero has given the Mavrick 440 a retro-roadster look with modern touches. It features a round LED headlamp, wide fuel tank, and muscular body panels that make the bike look stylish yet tough. The riding stance is upright, with wide handlebars for better control. The exhaust design is neatly integrated, giving the bike a premium roadster feel. Available in multiple attractive colors, the Mavrick 440 balances classic looks with new-age design. This styling will attract both young riders as well as mature customers looking for a big-bike feel.

Features & Technology

The Hero Mavrick 440 comes with a fully digital instrument cluster that supports Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, call alerts, and SMS notifications. It has an all-LED lighting system for better visibility. Dual-channel ABS is standard for safety. Hero has also given the bike ride statistics and trip information in the console, making it modern and practical. While it may not have advanced features like traction control or multiple riding modes, it provides all essential tech for Indian riders in this price range.

Suspension & Handling

The bike uses a telescopic front fork and twin shock absorbers at the rear, tuned for Indian road conditions. This suspension setup provides a balance between comfort and handling. The Mavrick 440 rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres, which makes it stable in corners and comfortable on highways. The roadster stance gives riders confidence during city rides as well as touring. The wide handlebar ensures smooth handling in traffic and easy control on long journeys. Overall, the bike feels solid and well-planted.

Braking & Safety

Hero has equipped the Mavrick 440 with disc brakes at both ends and dual-channel ABS. This ensures effective braking on all surfaces, including wet roads. The braking system is tuned to provide progressive bite, giving riders confidence while riding at higher speeds. The strong chassis and wider tyres also add to the safety of the motorcycle. Since it is a roadster, braking is designed more for stability on highways rather than off-road conditions. Still, it is safe enough for all types of Indian roads.

Comfort & Ergonomics

The Mavrick 440 is designed with rider comfort in mind. It has a wide and cushioned seat, offering comfort for both rider and pillion during long rides. The seating position is upright, and the footpegs are mid-set, which prevents fatigue even on long highway runs. The handlebar is slightly raised, making it comfortable for daily commutes as well. With its balanced weight distribution, the bike is easy to handle in traffic while still being stable at high speeds. This makes it suitable for both young riders and experienced tourers.

Mileage & Fuel Efficiency

The Mavrick 440 delivers a mileage of around 30–33 km/l, depending on riding style and road conditions. With a 13.5-liter fuel tank, the bike can easily cover 400 km on a full tank, which is very useful for long-distance touring. While it may not match the fuel economy of smaller bikes, it offers a good balance between power and efficiency for a 440cc motorcycle. Hero has focused on keeping the engine refined and efficient, which makes it practical for both city and highway use.

Price & Variants

The Hero Mavrick 440 is available in three variants – Base, Mid, and Top. The base model starts at around ₹1.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top variant with alloy wheels, dual-tone paint, and advanced features costs around ₹2.24 lakh (ex-showroom). This aggressive pricing makes it one of the most affordable premium motorcycles in India. With this, Hero is targeting riders who want a powerful and stylish bike without spending Royal Enfield 650 money. It is also the cheapest bike in India in the 400cc+ category.
